Choosing Perfume for Father’s day on the 21st June

family.JPGFathers day this year falls on the 21st of June so that gives us all a couple of weeks to search for that great present for the special man in your life who never lets you down.

Choosing a perfume for your dad can be great fun, taking into consideration his personality and lifestyle there are many different fragrances out there which will suit him.

Think about what your Dad enjoys in life? What is his profession? What type of personality does he have?

A business man who enjoys high technology, slick gadgets and contemporary design will appreciate scents which will capture this and also have a high slick design bottle. For dads like this I would recommend The Essence for Men by Porsche design. The Porsche Design Company is dedicated to capturing passion, purity, precision, and performance, making this scent suitable for technology, contemporary Dads. The fragrance has top notes of juniper and blueberry, these then soak down to create middle notes of coriander, black pepper, and pine, the base notes are patchouli and incense, tangled with freshness. This is a cool innovative fragrance that creates an icy and an invigorating sensation.

Dads who enjoy being sporty and outdoors like to spend time in forests, lakes, rivers wondering around beautiful natural areas of beauty. Dads like this enjoy natural smells, and like to feel fresh and clean all day. I would recommend Clean for Men. It’s a fragrance which is designed to make you feel fresh and clean all day long. The notes are Lavender, grapefruit, and raspberry, with middle notes of lime, cloves, and incense, and base notes of patchouli and musk. The great thing about this fragrance is that its smells radiate energy. When its worn it make the wearer feel energetic, which would be perfect for those Dads who love to be outdoors, and sporty.

For Dads who are a little quieter and not really fussed about grooming, its probability best to go for a simpler scent, which isn’t overpowering with too many layers. I would recommend Story By Paul smith which I recently reviewed. Story is a fragrance inspired from the untouched and fascinating scent of print in book, combined with the essence of time. It has top notes of Grapefruit, Bergamot, Vetiver and Green ivy, middle notes of Jasmine, and Green rose, and bottom notes of Modern musks, Mineral amber, and Cedarwood. Story is a scent which very much invokes elegance. The scent is simple yet attractive, and will last all day.

There are still many more fragrances out there to suit different dads. But I would start choosing as it’s not long to go now folks!

Serge Lutens Sa Majeste la Rose

Sa_Majeste_la_rose‘Her Majesty the rose’ is a fragrance which enjoys the beauty of a single rose. The fragrance was released in 2000 by Serge Luten, and is a beautiful true rose scent for both women, and men. The nose behind this fragrance is Christopher Sheldrake. The high notes are of course Moroccan rose, combined with fresh leafy greens, middle notes of spices, blue chamomile, geranium, lychee, and lemons, with base notes of, gaïac wood, dark Rose, honey, vanilla and woody notes.

At first this scent can seem overpowering with strong scents of rose with a touch of greenery. If you make your initial judgement here, you may not like the scent but it’s the period after this, and the dry down that give Sa Majeste la Rose its scented beauty, and pleasures. Its initial burst of Rose starts to combine with the other notes to create a simple rose scent which smells truly of roses. The scent becomes softer after the initial burst; they dry down and become more honeyed, and leafy. The gaïac wood starts to rupture through the rose, creating a woody scent, which creates a beautiful long lasting true rose scent.

This Serge Luten scent is somehow different from their other scents. It’s not as dark, and dirty. Their scents are usually cryptic and challenging, and Sa Majeste la Rose seems more friendly, and simple. However this is not a negative thing, as it’s a very soothing fresh, real rose scent. It’s balanced by slight greens, and a sweet honey dry down, combined with woods. The fragrance is confidently beautiful and a pleasure to wear.

Story by Paul Smith

PaulSmithStory

Story was launched in 2006 for men by Paul Smith. ‘I still find inspiration in everything….but most of all books.’ Story is a fragrance inspired from the untouched and fascinating scent of print in book combined to the essence of time. The Fragrance comes in a transparent glass rectangle shaped bottle with a front flap that opens like the front cover of a book, that representing a book. The print on the front of the bottle is in the typeface taken from an old olibetti typewriter.

Story has top notes of Grapefruit, Bergamot, Vetiver and Green ivy, middle notes of Jasmine, and Green rose, and bottom notes of Modern musks, Mineral amber, and Cedarwood. These notes give Story a very elegant and neat scent. This scent is defiantly for the men who appreciate masculine perfume which is airy and earthy, rather than masculine scents which choose to be strong, cluttered and overbearing.

This is a great fragrance for everyday wear. The Ivy compliments the Grapefruit very well creating a peppery like scent. The Cedarwood, Ivy and Vetiver finish off this scent creating a lasting simple, yet attractive scent all day. The overall effect is clean, spicy, and intriguing. Story is never overpowering no matter how much is applied, and has been described as Paul Smiths best fragrance.

Story consists of a line of three EDTs in 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml, aftershave spray of 100ml, and a 75g deodorant stick. To buy Paul Smiths Story Click here.

Vanille Exquise by Annick Goutal

annick-goutal-vanille-exquise.jpgVanille Exquise was lunched by Annick Goutal in 2004. The fragrance was developed by Isabelle Doyen and Camille Goutal. They wanted to create a new and unique Vanilla scent which would invoke the fantasy of far-flung islands and the memory of Cleopatra’s vanilla almond baths. This would be challenging, as many vanilla based scents can create strong sweet girly smells, which mainly teenagers are attracted too. They can also smell extremely sweet and almost too good to eat, which makes it difficult to wear because of the lasting effects of edible smells, upon the wearer. But Vanille Exquise by Annick Goutal is one of the best vanilla fragrances around.

The notes included in this perfume are vanilla, almond, benzoin, angelica, gaiac wood, Sandalwood, and white musk. The fragrance is great for vanilla scent lovers. It’s gorgeous, classy, and very elegant. The vanilla, and almond entwined with the gaiac wood, and white musk creates a light scent that is not too strong, and not too sweet. The vanilla and almonds form a subtle sweet note that smells sugary. The angelica helps the fragrance also add great green sweetness, while also creating a slight musky smell. The gaiac wood creates smokey notes which make the vanilla fragrance a more of a woody vanilla scent. The Vanilla entwined with almonds make smells that are not too sweet, but nice and creamy.

Vanilla Exquise is a beautifully calm but effective scent. The vanilla isn’t too sweet, and the hints of woody and musky smells can be appreciated by everyone, including those who find vanilla fragrances too sweet and intense. This fragrance is very sophisticated, and creates a subtle vanilla and romantic smell. The wearer will feel a light, warm, calm, lasting woody-vanilla almond smell all around them. An elegant fragrance for vanilla, and Annick Goutal lovers.

Annick Goutal Eau du Sud

annickgoutaleaudusud.JPGEau du Sud was launched in 1995 by Annick Goutal. This fragrance is both for men and women. It’s one of the most wanted Annick Goutal Fragrances, and a favourite summer fragrance among many. Annick Goutal created this fragrance to capture and remind her of her journeys in the South of France and Tuscany. This fragrance would be perfect if you have ever travelled to these stunning parts of Europe, as Annick Goutal created this fragrance to invoke up memories of the warmth and the sun on those long beautiful evenings.

Eau du Sud has top notes of mandarin orange, bergamot, basil, and grapefruit, middle notes of peppermint, lemon verbena, lime, and base notes of vanilla, basil, and Sandalwood. This is a great seasonal fragrance which is fresh and clean. These notes create a perfect summer scent. Eau de Sud creates an immediate warm citrus scent with its strong lime, grapefruit, mandarin orange, and bergamot. Yet creating lighter herbal scents with its peppermint, and lemon verbena. This fragrance holds its citrus scent delicately throughout its progression, and dry down, while subtly letting other notes gracefully and lightly appear through. The notes which create a light herby smell are basil and peppermint, which are slight yet are perfect in making that summery scent. Eau du Sud creates airy woody notes which melt and combine with the lasting mandarin orange, and bergamot, but also the subtle mint and basil.

This fragrance is perfect for wearing all day long in the summer. The fresh citrus entwined with the warmer scents of the Mediterranean sun is perfect for those of us who want to feel and create summer all around us.

The most expensive perfume in existence.

Clive Christian is not a perfume brand which is know in every household. It is not a perfume brand which is common, or well known. But it is significant for one thing: it produces the most expensive perfume in the World.

Clive Christian “Imperial Majesty”, is sold in bottles of 16.9 ounces, adorned with a gold collar, and holding a beautiful five-carat diamond. Yes, thats a good diamond.

I dread to think about buying the empty bottle – let alone the actual perfume in it!

However, it’s not something you can just waltz into Selfridges and buy, regardless of it’s cost. Only five bottles are manufactured anually, making it the most rare perfume in commercial production.

So the final question: how much is it?

Well, at only $215′000 USD a bottle, it’s quite affordable if you are the Duke of Atlantis. Apart from that, it is something to be marvelled at, more than desired.
