Choosing Perfume for Father’s day on the 21st June

family.JPGFathers day this year falls on the 21st of June so that gives us all a couple of weeks to search for that great present for the special man in your life who never lets you down.

Choosing a perfume for your dad can be great fun, taking into consideration his personality and lifestyle there are many different fragrances out there which will suit him.

Think about what your Dad enjoys in life? What is his profession? What type of personality does he have?

A business man who enjoys high technology, slick gadgets and contemporary design will appreciate scents which will capture this and also have a high slick design bottle. For dads like this I would recommend The Essence for Men by Porsche design. The Porsche Design Company is dedicated to capturing passion, purity, precision, and performance, making this scent suitable for technology, contemporary Dads. The fragrance has top notes of juniper and blueberry, these then soak down to create middle notes of coriander, black pepper, and pine, the base notes are patchouli and incense, tangled with freshness. Dads who enjoy being sporty and outdoors like to spend time in forests, lakes, rivers wondering around beautiful natural areas of beauty. Dads like this enjoy natural smells, and like to feel fresh and clean all day. I would recommend Clean for Men. It’s a fragrance which is designed to make you feel fresh and clean all day long. The notes are Lavender, grapefruit, and raspberry, with middle notes of lime, cloves, and incense, and base notes of patchouli and musk. The great thing about this fragrance is that its smells radiate energy. When its worn it make the wearer feel energetic, which would be perfect for those Dads who love to be outdoors, and sporty.

For Dads who are a little quieter and not really fussed about grooming, its probability best to go for a simpler scent, which isn’t overpowering with too many layers. I would recommend Story By Paul smith which I recently reviewed. Story is a fragrance inspired from the untouched and fascinating scent of print in book, combined with the essence of time. It has top notes of Grapefruit, Bergamot, Vetiver and Green ivy, middle notes of Jasmine, and Green rose, and bottom notes of Modern musks, Mineral amber, and Cedarwood. Story is a scent which very much invokes elegance. The scent is simple yet attractive, and will last all day.

There are still many more fragrances out there to suit different dads. But I would start choosing as it’s not long to go now folks!

Kate Moss to launch her new scent Vintage in September

katemossperfume.jpgKate moss is releasing her new perfume Vintage in September and the super model is taking her vintage icon style, and converting this image into her new scent Vintage.

Kate said she wanted her perfume to have ‘a vintage English feel, and to be a symbol of both her good, and bad’

Kate also said ‘she loves anything old, except old men.’

The fragrance is designed to be worn all day, and is a soft scent, created with blends of lily from the valley, magnolia, Coty, and roses.

Vintage follows from her highly successful fragrance Velvet Hour which recently won the CEW prize for Best New Celebrity Fragrance.

With Kate onto her ninth collection for TopShop, and her new fragrance set to release for September, I’m sure Vintage will be a great hit.

US FiFi Awards 2009 Winners are announced

Perfumers and celebrities that attended include Queen Latifah, Samantha Harris, Famous Couple Jonathan Alder and Simon Doonan, attractive Nacho Figueras, Fragrance Foundation President Rochelle Bloom, Neil Katz, Ernest Borgnine, Mary J, Paris Hilton, recently engaged Lorenzo Martone and Marc Jacobs, Aerin Lauder, Sean Combs, and Lisa and Dustin Hoffman. Executive Vice President at Givaudan Fine Fragrance Cos Policastro, was on stage reviewing 60 years of perfumery industry.

Perfect Fragrances for the Perfect Summer

Light_floralJust like clothes perfume needs to be changed to suit the weather outside. You wouldn’t wear Black jumpers and jeans on a hot sweltering day, so it’s best not to wear hot heavy perfumes in the hot summer’s day either.

Choosing perfume for the summer can be tricky, and some may not want to part with their winter warmer. Heavy notes such as Woody Orientals which include Sandalwood, strong Musk’s, and also heavy Aromatic Fougere of Lavender and Vanilla, may leave you with a heavy head in the hot summer.

It may be an idea to look for your favourite perfume in an “Eau de Perfume or Eau de Toilette” which consists of a lower concentrate than perfume.

Great summery perfumes should remind you of sun, fun, and freshness. Summery perfumes are great when they contain floral notes, and exotic fruits. Citrus fruits and lemony fragrances will create feelings of freshness, and floral notes of jasmine, and orange blossom will create summery sparkles. Perfect fragrances for the perfect summer.

Akon Set to Release Two New Perfumes

Akon is joining other famous celebrities in the perfume industry. He is set to release two new perfumes later this year 2009.

The news comes shortly after he announced that his clothing lines Konvict, and Aliaune Clothing, will now also be made available for fans in Africa, and also the expansion of these clothing lines.

The fragrance will be available to purchase online from the companies website in August 2009. There have also been talks between retailers such as Macy’s.

Akon has recently formed Konvict Cosmetics, and Konvict the first perfume, is aimed at the younger consumer. The second scent Aliaune, named after his first name, is designed to target a more sophisticated consumer.

We look forward to getting a smell of Akons new scents.

Malin + Goetz have released two new fragrances

They have many combinations of fragrances, which are recommended to be worn in layers. They avoid using potentially irritating synthetic fragrance and only use natural extracts in their products. Malin and Goetz assure their customers the most gentle and least irritating formulas.

There two new are fragrances synthesized Geranium Leaf and Petitgrain Tonic. Synthesized Geranium Leaf has notes of cyclamen, geranium, green apple, coriander and musk. ‘Our synthesized geranium leaf is scientifically engineered for its green freshness’. Petitgrain Tonic produces notes of petitgrain, lavender, bergamot, guaiacwood, and tonka bean. ‘Our petitgrain tonic is synthesized for its natural citrus notes; to calm relax, and refresh.’

Audrey Tatou is the new face of Chanel No.5

audrey-tatou-chanel-no5.jpgFrench born actress Audrey Tatou is to replace Australian actress Nicole Kidman to be the new face of the world’s most famous perfume Chanel No.5. Chanel has unveiled a new film to launch its new famous face, in a highly awaited marketing campaign, of this years perfume industry.

The actress Audrey Tatou has taken the main role in the short film/commercial directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who he had previously cast Audrey Tatou in both Amelie, and A Very Long Engagement. The crew worked on the commercial for three weeks, filming on the train from Paris to Limoges, to Turkey. In the film Audrey Tatou is seen as travelling from Paris to Istanbul aboard the orient express, crossing paths with model Travis Davenport.

I have to say I love the new advert, having already been a big fan of Jean-Pierre Jeunets Amelie, and A Very Long Engagement. His films are very visual and quirky stories about love. He uses epic sounds combined with saturated colours, and imagery to heighten the viewers’ senses and emotions towards the characters.  Audrey Tatou reminds me of Audrey Hepburn, she has brilliant stage presents, and she has a way of radiating her enjoyment and pleasures, within her surroundings, to the viewer throughout the film. The film portrays a physical meeting between a man and a woman who brush past each other on a night train. It’s intoxicatingly beautiful.

The Film went live on the 5th of May, to mark the 88th anniversary of the day when No.5 went on sale. Chanel No.5 is claimed to be the best-selling fragrance, and Audrey Tatou’s involvement I’m sure will prove to be a great marketing strategy.

Uk FiFi Awards have Taken Place

The 17th Annual Fragrance UK FiFi awards have taken place. The event took place on the 22nd April and was held at The Dorchester Hotel, in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Alex Zane The radio and TV presenter introduced the ceremony, and proudly announced that he was wearing Boss by Hugo Boss. Other guests at the ceremony included Mischa Barton who revealed that one of her favourite fragrances is She Wood by DSquared2.

The awards were a great success with the atmosphere being described as ‘electric’. These awards are becoming more and more popular every year, with a hope to become bigger and better next year. Hopefully next year the public will become more involved, creating masses more voting online for their favourite fragrances. 19 awards were given out, and two new awards were announced. The lifetime achievement award went to 86 year old Jean-Paul Guerlain. Hopefully next year will see the FiFi awards bring more press and celebrities to rocket the success of the best fragrances around. And the winners are

Kate Moss is awarded top beauty award for her fragrance velvet hour.

Kate Moss has won a top beauty award at the 2009 Cosmetics Executive Woman’s beauty Awards for the Best New Woman’s Celebrity Fragrance. In its fourth year running, the awards are described as the ‘Oscars of the beauty industry.’

Her fragrance velvet hour came top over 300 other celebrity perfumes, which all competed for the award. Velvet hour is described as ‘a brief precious moment as the dusk settles and the air is electrified with every possibility’.

Kate won the tile on Best New Woman’s Celebrity Fragrance, along with another 27 winners in different categories. The vote was cast by over 400 CEW UK members, and was sponsored by boots. Harrods will be showcasing the winning products on the 26th April to the 1st of May
