Annick Goutal - the Rolls-Royce of perfume

Annick Goutal - The Perfect PerfumeA QUICKIE ABOUT ‘MY PERSONAL PERFUME’

Something which many of us don’t realize at all, it just how wonderful Annick Goutal is. It was in fact first introduced to the world nearly 30 years ago, in 1981. An age dominated by style, is was the perfect decade for perfumes as original and perfect as those of Annick Goutal’s to be born, and it still retains its distinctive classic French character to this day and age.

I was first introduced to Annick Goutal by my grandmother in 2000, when I received some for my 21st birthday. It was her personal favourite, my mother’s too, and it later grew to be mine as well. But one of the first things I learned about these expensive liquids was that one must not wear them on an everyday basis (unless one really can afford to). For me Eau de Camille (my favourite) has always been a perfume to be loved and treasured, and a perfume which is only to be worn on special occasions. (Eg. Don’t use it as a substitute for Frebreeze!)

The next thing I learned was just how much this magnificent perfume meant to my grandmother. She had tried her first sample when she was a woman of 60, and fell in love with it. It was also a wedding anniversary present given to her by my grandfather, giving it a huge semtimental value to her, as she lost him during the winter of 2001.  Now, if this perfume had such a direct link with my family, then I was going to feel it too. I loved my Grandfather, and the perfumes of Annick Goutal always makes me think of him, which I think is nice.

The final thing I learned (and this is the opinionated part) is that (for me) Annick Goutal Eau de Camille is simply the best perfume in existence.  I just love it: its distinctive and indescribable fragrance, its beautiful natural-looking colour. Everything about this perfume for me is just wonderful.

So there you have it: The Rolls-Royce of perfume, all summed up in a bottle. Hope you enjoyed this!

I get my supply of Annick Goutal  from that website,

Tips To Make Your Fragrance Last Longer

When you are wearing perfume, you may feel that you may need to reapply perfume. We have discussed Pulse Points on this blog before now, but Tipnut shares with us some great tips on wearing perfume:

“First rub in a dab of vaseline to the areas that you will be applying perfume to, then spray or dab on the perfume. The vaseline will moisturize the skin which helps hold the perfume longer than dry skin will.”

There is countless more tips on the blog, so I urge you to check them out!

Pulse Points - Vary Between Them

When applying perfume, it’s important to remember the pulse points on your body to maximise the use of it.

Your pulse points, if you cannot tell, are places on your body where you can feel your pulse. If you think about it, applying perfume to them works well as your heart beats, you disturb the perfume, which refreshes the fragrance.

The problem is that as your body gets used to the fragrance, it can make your skin more resistant to it. So, with that in mind, it’s a good idea to vary between your pulse points. Here are some of them:

  • Behind your knees
  • ankles
  • wrists
  • crook of your elbow
  • cleavage
  • the nape of your neck

Of course, if you have Eau Du Toilette then you would have to re-apply it every hour or so. Therefore, it’s a good idea to apply it before going out, after a bath or shower, in one of the pulse points that are not quite as dignified to access! When out, and you have your eau du toilette with you, you can easily apply it to your neck or wrists.

Another area that it is becoming increasingly popular to put perfume is on your hairbrush. Then, when you brush your hair, the perfume smells stick to your hair for the evening, and linger on throughout the evening.

How To Keep And Store Perfume

Wonder how you keep that nice bottle of Paul Smith Perfume fresh for as long as possible? Well, wonder no more as this article will give you basic tips on keeping your perfume smelling fresh like the day you bought it.

Keep It Out of Strong Heat and Light
A shady corner in the bathroom or inside a medicine cabinet is ideal place for keeping a bottle of perfume. Both the light and the heat can damage the colour and - therefore - the scent.

Keep Upright
Ever wonder why perfume bottles come in boxes? Well it’s to prevent it from shaking about too much. When you are not using it, keep it standing as it should. Plus the bottle looks a lot nicer.

Buy The Right Perfume
If you don’t wear much fragrance, choose one with a higher concentration of alcohol in it. Perfume with a higher percentage of alcohol lasts longer (by about 5-6months longer).
